RAMS 3 LENT RISE RANGERS 1 – League Cup Rd 2
So having got their championship defence back on track last week – the Rams were back defending their League Cup title this week. Given a second home draw advantage in the competition the Rams took on Lent Rise Rangers from division 2 – all be it division 2 leaders with a 100% record so far.
In a game played in appalling conditions (for the spectators – the boys didn’t seem to mind the driving rain) an even tussle saw Rams run out eventual winners 3-1 and progress to the next round.
The first half was pretty even with the Rams dominating the first period before LRR got into the game towards the end as Callum was called into action for the first time. Arran looked to add to the goals from last week and had a free kick well saved – meanwhile at the back Jamie had one of his best games of the season – strong in defence with good distribution.
The second half began with the Rams pushing forward and eventually the breakthrough came when Corey fired home after good work from Tom and James. Tom then nearly made it two as he hit the bar. As the conditions eased up the Rams moved up a gear and were soon two goals up as Tom finished off a fine passing move which started at the back. His cross come shot looped up over the keeper and nestled in the top corner. Reminiscent of Arran’s goal in the 3-3 draw against Burnham last. Although Arran was adamant that he meant it, though Tom admitted after the game it was an intended cross!
Ben, Jamie and Callum were strong at the back but could do little as LRR pulled one back from a corner. The Rams continued to press forward but were denied by some great saves from the LRR’s keeper. However the Rams made the progression to the next round safe when James rounded off another excellent move playing a 1 -2 with Tom after a string of passes from the Rams left Lent Rise chasing shadows, neatly slotted away by James, great finish. 3-1
A great game from both sets of boys in truly horrid conditions- all the boys dug deep and battled to the end. In fairness the Rams could have run out a larger score had the LRR’s keeper not been on such fine form.
Rams meet BJ Juniors Whites in the next round.
Our opponents in last years final Boyne Hill lost 2-0 at home to Eton Wick!
Stats – abandoned for this week
Attendance – amazing considering weather
MOTM – Corey – fantastic work rate and great goal

RAMS 4 Chalfont Saints Sharks 1
Goals –
- Chalfont – 12 mins – 0-1
- Arran – 23 mins – 1-1
- Corrie – 25 mins – 2-1
- Arran – 29 mins – 3-1
- Arran – 37 mins – 4-1
The Rams lined up against one of their strongest rivals from last season knowing that 3 points were needed to get their season back on track. The boys did not disappoint coming from behind to run out 4 -1 winners on a blowy day at the Park.
With the disappointment of Boyne Hill firmly behind them the boys lined up in blustery conditions against Chalfont – a fixture which traditionally carries with it a lively atmosphere. Playing down the slope in the first half the Rams looked to take advantage in the first half and moved the ball around well. Corey shot over from Aran’s cross but the early exchanges were pretty even. However as the half progressed the Rams pushed on the stronger with Tom, Corey, Connor and Aran all having good chances with some excellent saves from the Chalfont keeper.
Then really from out of the blue Chalfont took the lead with an excellent cross eluding the Rams defence and the ball was tucked in at the far post. The Rams almost equalised straight away Connor firing in a shot after good work from James and Aran. It was the latter who almost grabbed the equaliser himself only to see the ball cleared off the Chalfont line. However a great one two with James enabled Aran to break through and fire home 1-1. Minutes later good work from Tom and James created an opening for Corey who had two shots saved but kept his composure to rattle in the ball at the third attempt. 2-1. The half finished with little for Callum, Jamie and Connor to do in the Rams defence.
The second half started much as the first had ended and whilst the exchanges were more balanced than the end of the first half the Rams were soon out of sight as Arran scored off the post and then completed his hat trick rounding off a fantastic move from the Rams which started with Ben and Oliver in defence went through the midfield – cross from Tom and Arran buried for his hat trick.
On the face of it this was probably the Rams best display of the season – good footwork and team play rounded off with some excellent finishing against a strong side who showed their quality with a great goal. This was how the Rams played last season and this was the sort of result they were getting. It moves them up to fourth in the table with Burnham Whites and Boyne Hill still undefeated.
It will be tough to keep the title this year with a strong league but with performances like this the Rams will keep the pressure on till the end of the season.
Statistics – Corners – Rams 4 Chalfont 2
Shots – Rams 10(on) 5(off) – Chalfont 3(on) 4(off)

Attendance – a record

Boyne Hill Tornadoes 2 Rams 0
The Rams lined up againts newly promoted Boyne Hill Tornadoes, our opponents in last years League Cup Final.
After a delayed kick off the game finally got underway but with the Rams still a player short! The Tornadoes applied lots of early pressure and soon made the numerical advantage count with a well hit effort that was just too strong for Callum in the Beaconsfield goal to keep out.
Sean arrived and just in the nick of time running on to make a tackle surely preventing a second goal for the Hill. Most of the possession and chances fell to the home side who worked the ball well, forcing a couple of corners in quick succession, but the Rams defender strongly to deny the Tornadoes a second goal. The boys from Beaconsfield did manage to create a couple of chances but the Hill's keeper filled the goal well.
Second half the Rams started to move the ball around better in search of the equaliser, but it was Boyne Hill who doubled their lead with a deflected shot squirming through the unfortunate Jamie's legs and trickled over the line, 2-0.
We worked hard to try and get back into the game but The Hill were big and strong and equal to everything we threw at them, in stark contrast to the Cup Final last year. At times we tried to do too much individually instead of releasing the ball quickly, often being muscled off the ball.
With only seven players and no subs the boys tired a little near the end but every single player gave 100% and worked their socks off. Boyne Hill remain undefeated this season but face league leaders Burnham Whites in their next match. Ben 'Goldilocks' had a good game, his massive goal kicks and free kicks will cause many teams problems this season.
Man of the match went to Callum, who did very well in goal in the first half and was solid on the left side of defence second half.

Bulls 1 Burnham Juniors Yellows 0
An excited Bulls side arrived for the first home fixture this season brimming with new found confidence and positivity after their previous outstanding performance against a Division A side.
Burnham started well with the Bulls defence being tested but they stood strong and Burnham soon looked frustrated. The Bulls quickly looked the stronger side and had a few good chances but it was 0-0 at half time.
With a half time boost from the manager the Bulls came back out fighting and looked determined to claim the home win. Some great play from midfield meant the Bulls Keeper was left with nothing to do. Burnham fought back and kept applying the pressure, but they were no match for the Bulls on this occasion and a cracking shot from Jureme's right boot sealed the 1-0 win.
Congratulations to Jureme on his winning goal and for getting "Man of the Match" this week, but every player deserves a pat on the back for a fantastic performance and a job well done.
